Making a Reservation...How do I?

1. Click the Rates and Availability link on the home page to find out about pricing and check the availability calendar for the nights you plan to stay,

2. Print and complete the Rental Agreement , and then mail, fax or scan/email the completed Rental Agreement back to Cottages of Dark Corner.  The rental agreement includes advance payment information. We accept Visa and MasterCard, or if more than 30 days prior to arrival,  if you may send a money order, cashier's check, or personal check in the US mail.

That's it! Confused? Then just give us a call or send an email and we will help. We can take your reservation right over the phone. Remember,  a reservation can't be confirmed unless we receive your completed Rental Agreement and your rental payment in advance. Cottages won't be held without a confirmed reservation. If two reservations are requested for the same dates, the reservation that is confirmed first (Agreement + Payment) will be accepted and the other party will be notified immediately. (Top of Page)

Do you double book the cottages?

Cottages of Dark Corner never intentionally double books a cottage. Our entire scheduling and bookkeeping system is set up to avoid double booking. The Availability Calendar for each cottage is updated after each reservation is confirmed. All parties are notofied if reservations are requested for the same dates. We turn away lots of folks who make reservation requests for dates that are already booked, so we ask sincerely that reservations be honored and cancellations be made in emergencies only. (Top of Page)

What if I need to cancel/change my reservation?

You can change your reservation date without penalty, based upon availability. Cancellation notices must be in writing. In case of cancellations made more than thirty (30) days prior to check in, we will refund all monies paid, less one night's rent as a cancellation fee. If notice of cancellation is received less than sixty (30) days prior to check in, all monies paid will be forfeit unless we can re-rent the cottage. If cottage is re-rented, all monies will be returned less the cancellation fee. (Top of Page)

Telephone service is not provided. Reception can be spotty in this area due to the heavily wooded, mountainous terrain, however, most cell phones will work from the cottages. Television service is provided in each cottage. (Top of Page)

There are no additional fees, unless damage has occurred to the cottage during your stay.  Because you pay for your rental in advance, you will have an itemized invoice to review before you agree to make a reservation. (Top of Page)

What do I bring?

Well. Toiletries and clothing for starters...then there are woodsy things like bug spray, water shoes, sturdy shoes (for hiking) and your swim suit. You can bring your own food or visit a local grocer when you arrive. The water shoes are especially helpful when exploring our waterfalls and creeks. The rocks are wet and slippery! (Top of Page)

What if I have a problem during my stay?

My husband and I live right here on the property. If you have questions, need supplies, or a problem arises, we are right here to assist you. (Top of Page)

Are the trails and waterfalls actually on the property?

Yes! All you need to get there are your feet and a few minutes time.  You can drive part of the way if you like and park next to the road...the walk back uphill is steep in places (Especially to Cynthia's Peak) and can be strenuous for those who are not accustomed to walking uphill. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the waterfalls from the Pout House and about 15 minutes from the Peak. (Top of Page)

What about horses?

We own our own horses, but we don't rent horses or provide horses for riding.  (Top of Page)
